The normal side of your grandparents...

Well, little buddy, here they are...the people that may be the most excited to meet you (next to us of course, and your aunts and uncles). The grandmothers have thought they've been 'subtle' and not at all antsy about us bringing a little buddy into the world. But let me assure you, they were not! They've got the grandma itch something fierce...I wouldn't let them buy you anything until you were at least the size of a lime...and yet, both of them managed to sneak a few things in. Don't worry, I am sure you will be bombarded with gifts your whole life so I don't think you missed out on too many goodies for those first three months. These ladies are going to be the most fun people you will know. And since they are your grandmas and not your parents you won't be embarrassed by their displays of affection and all around goofiness. On your dad's side you've got a grandma who can still do the splits, and on mine you've got a grandma who hula hoops, a lot. So you see, entertainment will not be lacking.

The grandpas are just as excited as the grandmas. Your grandpa on your dad's side just can't wait until you reach the ice cream eating stage so he has an excuse to get ice cream on the regular. Although, come to think of it I may have to tell him that I am currently in my ice cream stage so anytime he's ready I could always use a cone. Your grandpa on my side has a few projects in line for you. First in line are a crib and a dresser (MY crib and MY dresser from when not only I, but yr uncles, were babies!) need some work and he has got the giant shop to do it in. And let me tell you little buddy, growing up with a grandpa with a giant shop is one of the best things a kid could ask for. I know this from experience.

These photo's don't do the goofiness of your grandparents justice, but they sure are cute, huh? Don't worry I'll show you the ones from this last christmas where your grandmothers, at separate times unbeknownst to each other, somehow managed to end up in giant bags. I sure hope you have a good sense of humour, you are going to need it in this family...

Johnny Appleseed.

Hi honey,

When we found out you were coming you were just the size of an appleseed...boy or girl you were our little johnny appleseed. We wanted to run around screaming to the world that we'd done it! But you see, we had a tough time getting here so we had to be cautiously optimistic. But I just had a feeling that things were different this time. That you were a sticky little appleseed...

You treated me pretty darn well for the first few months. You were growing so fast! Which was pretty exhausting for mama bear here...but you only made me puke like twice! I thank you for that.

Your dad keeps calling you our little 'person'. Which I find HILARIOUS. He is going to be the best dad, he already loves you so much. And oh boy! So do your aunts and uncles. Holy cow! Your aunty Jane is all the way in San Francisco but she is always checking on you. And your uncle Greg had a few whiskeys one night and was talking to you! At that point you were just the size of an olive! ha! And aunty Austy and uncle Hooty are constantly making plans for you. You are lucky little person.

And here we are, at 15 weeks, you are our little Apple now! You've grown from a seed to the full grown fruit. And today, I think I felt you wiggle. It was a feeling I have never felt before...and I smiled to myself. Although, I suppose I'm not just smiling to myself anymore...I'm smiling for two now.

Your dad asked me to start this 'journal'. I was worried, a bit superstitious about it, but he convinced me it would be ok this time. And I'm going to believe him, not just because he is a genius and frighteningly handsome...but because he asked so that all three of us can go on this adventure together. It's a little different for dads you know? I get to hang out with you for these 10 months, and he gets to love you so much, but it's a little different. This way he gets to share in all the little changes you are making...AND! Maybe some time in the future you'll be able to read this and share in it to. Your dad is one smart person.

So...that picture up there is a little dated :). We hopefully will be getting a new one pretty soon. In the mean time I'll put some belly pics up. Those are sort of pics of you right?

We love you little apple person buddy baby...

We'll see you soon.
xoxo
